Virginia Techniques
A new website for a kids’ gymnastics and NinjaZone gym in Christiansburg, Virginia. Parents can now see which classes have open spots, what’s coming up this month, and when a birthday party can be booked, all kept up to date automatically, so nobody at the gym has to update the website by hand.

The challenge
Virginia Techniques runs gymnastics, tumbling, and NinjaZone classes, camps, open gyms, and birthday parties for kids across the New River Valley. Parents come to the website with simple questions: is there room in my child’s class, what’s on this month, and can we book a party on Saturday?
The old site couldn’t answer any of them on its own. The real answers lived in the gym’s registration system, so parents had to click away and dig, or pick up the phone. Drag the slider above to see where the site started.
Open spots, always up to date
Every class on the new site shows its current openings, pulled straight from the system the gym already uses to run registration. When a spot fills or a new session opens, the website reflects it on its own. Staff never have to remember to update a web page.
If that system ever has a bad day, the site keeps showing the most recent schedule with a short note, instead of an error or an empty page. When a parent is ready to sign up, the Enroll button takes them to the same registration and Parent Portal they already know.
Events and parties in a couple of taps
Camps, open gyms, and special events appear on a calendar that fills itself in automatically. Birthday parties are even simpler: every open party slot shows up as a time button, and tapping one goes straight to checkout. No request forms, no back-and-forth emails, and no approval step for staff.
Built for parents on their phones
Parents often check the schedule from a phone, between drop-offs and practices. Pages appear almost instantly, schedules turn into easy-to-read cards on small screens, and the whole site works with screen readers and keyboards. It also respects people who prefer less motion on screen.
Real Google reviews appear right on the page with the gym’s true star rating and review count, so new families see what other parents think without going anywhere else.
Google’s own speed and quality test, shown below, scores the homepage 100 for performance, 100 for best practices, 100 for SEO, and 99 for accessibility. We have not published a formal accessibility audit of the site.
Easy to find, with nothing lost in the move
A new website can cost a business its search rankings if old links stop working. The old site’s page addresses now forward to their new homes, so Google results, bookmarks, and links shared in parent group chats all keep working.
Behind the scenes, the site tells search engines exactly what the gym is, where it is, and how to reach it, and the FAQ page is labeled so search engines can read its questions and answers directly. Opening hours are only published once the gym confirms them, so nobody shows up to a locked door.
Less spam, no puzzles
The contact form filters out spam invisibly, so parents never have to click on traffic lights to prove they are human. Messages land in the gym’s inbox, and hitting Reply goes straight back to the parent.
Five weeks from start to launch
The site went from first draft to launch in five weeks. The gym gave feedback by pinning comments directly on the pages they were reviewing, and we worked through them in rounds. Any detail we couldn’t confirm from a public source was clearly marked as a placeholder until the gym signed off, so nothing made up went live.
