The exposure, plainly

Where your customers are decides how likely this is.

950

Federal ADA website filings in Florida in 2025 — second-highest of any state.

#2

Florida’s national rank. New York leads; Florida and California trade second and third.

~⅓

The share of WCAG failures an automated scanner can detect. The rest need a human with a screen reader.

0

Small-business exemptions in the ADA. Most defendants are small operators, not national brands.

None of this means a claim is coming for you. It means the base rate in this state is high, the pattern is well documented, and the barriers cited are almost always the same handful: unlabeled form fields, missing alt text, keyboard traps in menus and modals, low-contrast text, uncaptioned video, untagged PDFs. All of them are fixable, and cheaper to fix than to litigate.

The ADA risk assessment

Ten questions about your sector, your states, your transactional flows, your platform, and the barriers you already suspect. It scores your exposure against the patterns that actually drive filings and tells you which two or three things to deal with first.

  • No email gate, no sales trigger — the result is yours on screen
  • Weighted by venue, sector, and the flows plaintiffs target
  • Ends with a prioritized short list, not a score you can’t act on

Selecting Florida alone moves the needle. It’s one of the three venues that account for most federal filings.

Then the work, in three steps

Assessment tells you where you stand. This is what closing the gap looks like.

Audit

Manual testing against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver, keyboard-only operation, and zoom. You get a findings register: every issue mapped to its criterion, with severity, user impact, repro steps, and effort.

Remediate

We fix it — in your codebase or ours. Front-end engineering, component and design-system corrections, PDF tagging, captions and transcripts. Highest-impact barriers on transactional flows go first, because that’s where claims start.

Document

Retest, then a conformance report — a VPAT/ACR if you sell to government or enterprise, an accessibility statement and dated remediation record either way. Good-faith progress is only worth what you can show.

Downtown on Central, since we opened the office

Our Florida studio is on Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg, with garage parking a block north. We work with businesses, practices, and public entities across St. Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater, Largo, Brandon, Bradenton, and Sarasota — Pinellas and Hillsborough most often, and on site when it’s useful.

We’ve been building accessible by default since 2014, and we serve as an independent expert in ADA Title II, Title III, and Section 508 matters. That’s the standard every audit we write is held to — which is exactly why it’s worth having ours rather than a scanner’s PDF.
